Simply put, it means that this site is considered to be a trusted source of useful information about living and retiring in the Philippines. Possibly because of the number of pages that refer to this site, or by the number of relevant terms that appear on the site.

Google can be quite secretive about how they rank pages. Some Google nerds visited my university back home and gave a talk about how they do it. It involves all sorts of algorithms and things that made little sense to me. I suppose they want to keep it that way so that people can't trick the system and make their page #1.

In the end, this is good news for us folks who like the Live & Retire site. Higher rank means more hits, more hits means more advertising revenue, and revenue means the site can continue to sustainably operate. At least that's how I understand things to function. So keep up the good work, folks!"

Good answer. Just wanted to clarify one point though. The majority of sites do as you say:

This site though operates for FREE & the ads are placed by Wetpaint. For us, more hits means we get to more readers looking for info without ulterior motives such as pleasing advertisers.
